Course Abstract: Exploratory laparotomy: systemic assessment of the abdomen, biopsy of the liver, stomach, intestines, lymph nodes and bladder. GI Surgery: Gastrotomy, enterotomy & intestinal resection and anastomosis; GDV: prophylactic incisional gastropexy & incisional gastropexy for treatment of GDV; Splenectomy
About Audrey Remedios: After finishing her veterinary degree, Dr. Audrey Remedios completed a surgical residency and Master of Veterinary Science program at the WCVM and an ACVS specialist in both large and small animals. After 9 years of teaching at WCVM, she moved to Calgary and established the Western Veterinary Specialist Centre. She started and developed the small animal surgery program in the newly established University of Calgary's School of Veterinary Medicine and taught there for 5 years. Dr. Remedios has been working in private practice for a number of years and also provides care for animals from many rescue groups including the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force, AARCS and Cochraine & Veterinarians Without Borders.
