Location: WDDC
Address: 17611 -109a Ave Street NW Edmonton, AB T5S 2W4.

Do you want a chicken or do you want this chicken?

Backyard hens are increasing in popularity not only throughout North America but in Alberta! The care clients are seeking for these birds can vary from a more agricultural utilitarian focus to an individual pet bird focus. More and more these charismatic birds are sneaking their way into the pet category where they are expecting care on par with other pet birds.

This lecture will focus on the care of individual pet chickens, where the owners want THIS chicken. Topics covered will include individual bird focused diagnostics, imaging, therapies, surgical interventions and pharmacology (cGFARAD be damned! because these birds will be un-consumable).
