Animal blood bank donor information and drives near you

Did you know that in veterinary medicine, we commonly use donated canine blood for tranfusions?
There are a few organizations that help supply our Edmonton area veterinarians with canine blood and you can help!

The Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB) is a Canada-wide organization whose mission is to:
In addition to many clinics who help run local blood bank drives for the CABB in the Edmonton area, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, routinely hosts donor clinics throughout the year. These donation clinics are unique from others, as the NAIT AHT and VMA students are involved in the appointments, and get experience through CABB working with real clients.

Clinic information: The CABB can now come directly to clinics in the Edmonton area to help host a canine blood donor clinic! This is a great way for you to become a part of the CABB family! If you are interested in helping out, contact Jessica Foyle at cabb@outlook.com.

Donor information:
If you, your friends, family and/or clients have a large breed dog which meets the following criteria, please consider volunteering (or asking them) to be a blood donor!

Dog Criteria:

If you can help or want more information, please contact either NAIT’s blood bank directly at animalbloodbank@nait.ca or check out the CABB Facebook Page for a full list of donor sites and dates near you!
