Season's Greetings from WildNorth Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation
(formerly known as Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton) |
|
Easy to find us on FB: WildNorth Website: www.wildnorth.ca |
|
Over 800 wildlife patients were released back into the wild in 2017! WildNorth would like to thank our many friends and supporters for helping us make this happen!
Without you – our donors and supporters, we cannot continue to do the vital work of assisting injured and orphaned wildlife and the people who find them! WildNorth is a donor-supported local wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility that has helped over 40,000 over the past 28 years formerly using the name Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton. Wildlife in distress is found by people like you.
We provide this service 365 of the year and in conjunction with Guardian Veterinary Centre and VetEmerg North, people have free access to admit injured wildlife 24 hours/day. This service is almost unheard of in many parts of the province and in fact, the country.
If you wish to make a donation for 2017, please visit our website www.wildnorth.ca . We have a new “Sponsor an Animal” program just in time for Christmas!
If your clinic has product or equipment you may wish to donate, please contact Kim at 780-297-6103. (We take returned Metacam!)
Our best wishes to you and your families for health and success in 2018.

The Uncas Veterinary Clinic Adoption Centre
The Uncas Veterinary Clinic has offered to collect all stuffed animal donations for this year's event. They will be receiving delivereries of donations of new and very gently used stuffed animals starting in January, washing those that need it, throwing away those that are too worn to give away and sorting them by species before our event!
Announcing our new stuffed animal delivery service for donations:
Some our industry representatives have volunteered to deliver donations of stuffed animals from participating veterinary clinics to the Uncas Veterinary Clinic! If you want to get a head start on your annual teddy bear drive and start your collections early, the following representatives have agreed to do deliveries, when they are in your area:
Vetoquinol: Alana Gomez
Royal Canin: Charlene Humphries
Summit Veterinary Pharmacy: Alice Boshier
Trupanion: David and Lee Milan
Bayer: Eric Pasimio
Purina: Kelsey Schellenberg
Idexx: Linzi Martin
Boehringer: Adam Spies
Aventix: Tammy Sorensen
If they are in your clinic and you have some stuffies to offload, let them know!
History of Dreamnight at the Zoo:
Established in 2008, Dreamnight at the Zoo is a collaborative annual event hosted by the Edmonton Valley Zoo, the Stollery Children's Hospital and many community partners. It is a cost-free private evenint at the zoo for chronically ill or disabled children and their families.
The Teddy Bear Hospital was conceived in 2014....
Before his passing in 2014, Dr. Milton Ness had discussed the idea of a teddy bear hospital with Smokey in conjunction with Dreamnight. After his passing, EASAV made this idea come to life and the Dr. Milton Ness Memorial Teddy Bear Hospital was born.
About the hospital: Each year, we purchase and collect donations of new and gently used stuffed animals from our members and the public. At our hospital, manned by real veterinarians & vet techs, the kids adopt a stuffed animal of their choice, get help examining it and then bandaging it up with vetrap!
They also enjoy doing mock foreign body surgeries on our stuffed surgery dogs and some of the interactive displays brought in by our members!
MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS YEAR!!!
In 2017, we gave away over 700 stuffed animals and this event is getting more popular each year. With the few volunteers that we had at the hospital last year, it was a very busy evening, as we had more than 700 kids come through in less than 4 hours!
If you have never been to the event and have an interest, please sign up to help out this year! We can also use your friends. Shifts will begin earlier this year to help set up the hospital as our interactive displays have expanded and more time is required to set it all up. Email Smokey if you have any questions.
