  President's Message
With the summer flying by, I hope that everyone has had the chance to relax and enjoy the warm weather. We have had some great CE courses and hosted our 2nd orthopedic wet-lab which proved to be quite popular.  EASAV is currently organizing ophthalmology wetlabs for November and continue to work hard to plan our upcoming CE events and AGM meeting.

This year Dreamnight at the zoo was another exciting event bringing many children and their families to our Teddy Bear Hospital. This was a heartwarming event not only bringing together veterinary clinics but also highlighting the importance of the veterinary community wanting to give back to the public. We hope to continue to bring smiles to children and their families from the Stollery Hospital and to honor Dr. Milton Ness.

This year we hosted our 12th Annual BBQ at the Edmonton Valley Zoo as a potluck style BBQ also inviting AHTs.  Members and their families enjoyed an evening of good food, private access to the entire zoo and behind the scenes events.

We hope to continue to encourage collegiality and communication amongst our veterinary community and provide exciting up-to-date seminars for our members.
We look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming CE events and our next Annual General Meeting.

Annual Member BBQ in review

WDDC 2013

This year's BBQ and Potluck at the Edmonton Valley Zoo was a hit!

Verbal feedback from members and their families and staff was very good; they enjoyed the private access, giving us a quieter evening at the zoo as well as the animal encounters and presentation.

The EASAV team will be booking the zoo for another private BBQ in 2016. Next year, the plan is to open it up to all EASAV member staff and their families!

If next year's attendance goes beyond the budgeted sponsorship allowance, late registrants will be charged a small fee for admission. Sponsorships will be increased for 2016 and we are hopeful that this won't be necessary.

We would like to thank the following companies and people for their continued support of the BBQ!
Medi-cal/Royal Canin,
Fresenius Kabi, WDDC and Dr. Shannon and Jim Wawryk for providing their BBQ and cooking skills!

Dr. Milton Ness Teddy Bear Hospital

June 5, 2015

Follow this link to view a collage of photos from the 2015 Teddy Bear Hospital!

Thanks to new and returning volunteers, members of the public, organizers, city-wide clinic support and the team at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, this year's Teddy Bear Hospital was a huge hit!

This year, EASAV members and AHTs joined together to improve and multiply our surgery dogs. The kids were lined up at the hospital to search for foreign bodies in our stuffed animals.

We plan to double the amount of surgery stuffies for next year's event. If you want to help out and have a knack for sewing, please let Smokey know during the course of the year. Sewing will likely happen during the winter months.

EASAV would like to acknowledge the following event supporters for their time and donations of supplies and skills in dedication to this project:
Erin Anderson for organizing the city-wide stuffed animal drive, Erika Langner for her organizational work and skills in sewing, Chelaine Vanderzwan, Terri Pettifor, Patty Marsh & Smokey for their help with the sewing of stuffed dogs, Maria Sung for the x-ray slide show, Shannon Wawryk for her donation of printers, printer paper, frames and cameras to do the photo booth, Morgan Wawryk, Colleen MacDougall, Chandan Maan, Leti Chow, Millwoods East Vet Clinic,
