EASAV President's Message |
|
A New Year and A New Decade
2020 is the beginning of a new decade and EASAV has a lot of big plans for the coming years.
First we must look back on the previous decade to reflect on how far we have grown as an association. I would like to thank Smokey for her role in EASAV over the last decade. Smokey’s hard work and dedication as EASAV’s Executive Assistant has allowed this association to continue to evolve and diversify while under a constantly rotating board of volunteer directors. This growth would never have been possible without her. So when you see Smokey buzzing around at a CE event or networking at a social function make sure you take a moment to thank her for her dedication.
In the near future, we have our Annual General Meeting coming up in March. Many of us are primarily only interested in the continuing education aspect of EASAV and that is fine. However, your current membership allows you a voice in how we proceed with future voting membership categories as well as article update resolutions and updates from EHS, Wild North and Animal Care and Control. We are hoping to foster and improve the relationships of the veterinary and animal care communities. The AGM will be also providing practical pertinent CE on Cybersecurity and a complimentary four course meal. So why don’t you plan to exercise your right to vote and come out and support EASAV?
Going forward into 2021, EASAV is planning to host its first full weekend Veterinary Conference to commemorate EASAV’s 50th year of providing top notch continuing education. It is our hope to attract both local and widespread veterinarians and technicians to come together in the spring for the most up-to-date continuing education and trade show. As our plans for the conference evolve, we will continue to provide updates for the membership.
We are continuing to fine tune our A/V capabilities and hope to continue to evolve our video recordings of our CE events and to make them available for our membership. We are also continuing to explore new ways to become better environmental stewards and animal advocates. If anyone has suggestions on how EASAV can improve or evolve please do not hesitate to get in touch with Smokey of one of the directors with your suggestions.
I hope everyone had some rest over the holiday season and has a happy and prosperous 2020.
Dr. Clare Leger
