  Message from The President

With the passage of great summer days, we are gearing up for a busy EASAV schedule.  This year we still have excellent CE left and new CE opportunities coming up. Recently EASAV finished its first hands-on wet-lab in basic orthopedic repairs. We have an excellent CE committee who is committed to go above and beyond to provide further hands-on CE next year. With the introduction of the new website, which is more user-friendly, EASAV members and office managers are able to register themselves and staff online. Members also have access to CE notes year-round.

EASAV continues to improve collegiately between practicing members by coming together at our annual BBQ and occasional open houses. We really missed Dr. Milton Ness this year, especially at the zoo. In honour of our friend and colleague, EASAV has set up the Milton Ness memorial fund; we only need another $60 to reach our goal of raising $1000 in Milton’s name for a legacy donation to the Edmonton Valley Zoo Development Society.

EASAV is actively working hard to organize more open houses this year. It is a great opportunity to meet and greet new EASAV members. I encourage all members to attend these events. EASAV is your association and your inputs are always appreciated.

Dr. Navjot Gosal, EASAV President

Dr. Milton Ness Memorial Teddy Bear Hospital

At next year's Dreamnight at the Zoo, EASAV will be asking for donations of stuffed animals of all sizes from clinics (staff and/or clients).

We will need very little stuffies (for use in our sx teddies as foreign body gifts) and small - large ones so that each child can receive one free stuffed animal when they visit the hospital.
This would be a good Christmas collection cause for your clinics!

Our goal is to round up 250 teddy bears to give away.

Memorial Fund

EASAV has created a fund in the name of our beloved late zoo veterinarian, Dr. Milton Ness, for which all proceeds will be donated to the Edmonton Valley Zoo Development Society. All donations are eligible for a tax deductible receipt, which will be issued before December 31, 2014.

To donate to the fund, please click on the link or access it from the Discussion Forum on the EASAV website.
For a minimum donation of $1000.00, EASAV will be able to make a legacy donation in Milton's name. Click on the link to learn more.
Currently, EASAV members and AHTs have donated $940.00.

Thank you to the following people for their generous donations:
Shauna Lesick, Smokey Walters, Mary Kooyman, Martin Schiebel, Jackie Simmonds, Lois Armstrong, Pam Goble, Alison Jackson and Jessica Wilson.
